One Hour Lessons
These on-site field trips provide individual classroom science lessons.
Colorful Creations- Students become color experts as they discover the combinations that make up the colors of the rainbow. They will utilize this new knowledge by creating finger paint project.
Making Sense of Our Senses -Rotating through the five senses students will explore the incredible sensory organs using hands-on activities and experiments that will test their” sense” of the senses.
What’s the Matter? - Students examine the differences between solids, liquids and gases by rotating through stations that allow them to create each state of matter in a fun and innovative way.
Snail Trails- Students will discover the secret life of a snail while measuring, observing and recording their findings. This is a fun lesson, which includes music, games and stories.
Electrifying Electricity – Students will discover the world of electricity while they rotate through stations, which will demonstrate static electricity, currents, and circuitry all in a hands-on format.
It’s a Matter of Mixtures- Students will rotate through stations where they will learn how to make and then separate mixtures. We will end the lesson by making a mystery compound. Who will be fooled?
Heat Transfer is “Cool!” - Students will learn how heat is transferred through convection, conduction and radiation by following the flow of heat in these “cool” hands-on experiments.
Squishy Squid Dissection- Students will discover the world of invertebrates by dissection and identifying the various parts of real squid. With a partner they will write their names with the “ink”, locate the tentacles, the siphon, mantle, gills and other fascinating parts of the squid.
Field Biology/ Biomes-This is an off-site field trip to a field near your school. Children will collect, observe and identify flowers, grasses, animals and insects indigenous to the setting. They will also learn the history of the area. This is a session, which requires parent permission and is seasonal.
Going Green with the Water Cycle- The students demonstrate the efficiency of the water cycle by acting, singing and creating projects that bring this “green” idea to life.
Going Green with Worms- Students learn the importance of composting and the valuable role worms play in preparing a rich soil for gardens and planting through hands-on experiments and projects.
Ecology and Communities- Students learn about the various communities, camouflage, adaptation, and the food chain in this “game” oriented lesson which helps to demonstrate the importance of each topic.
Fun with Microscopes- Students learn how to prepare a slide, stain a specimen and operate a microscope in this fun and informative lesson on the world through a microscope. (microscopes must be provided by the school)
